PAGE 11 of Wednesday’s Bully tells us the Government will take action if drivers are being ripped off at the bowser, big deal.
How out of touch are our representatives when a drive through any suburb makes it obvious to even the most non-caring politician that fuel prices are outrageous.
Oh sorry, when a person has a government car and driver I suppose cost of fuel is irrelevant.
“Drive on, James. Let the peasants grumble, we need more money to waste.”
I hope I don’t get to shake hands with politicians or ACCC members because they have been sitting on their hands so long it could be a health hazard.
LONG overdue correction on GST levied on essential feminine hygiene products, but let’s not forget the males too.
Prostate gland and urinary tract problems plus advancing age often result in incontinence dribbles and drips for which there are specially designed pads. It is hoped that they are all included in correcting this archaic tax.
ON Tuesday I lost my purse in the Runaway Bay Shopping Centre. I would like to thank the kind and honest lady who handed it in to Terry White Chemist. It was very much appreciated. AT a breakfast organised by the Southport Chamber of Commerce this week, David Crisafulli and Rob Molhoek committed a future LNP Government to supporting and honouring the outcome of the Spit masterplanning process.
In fact they want all levels of government to support it.
The Labor Government is committed to the process, now we have two LNP MPs showing leadership by publicly supporting the process.
We would now like to see other LNP MPs on the Gold Coast making similar commitments.
All who are involved in the masterplanning process would like to see bipartisanship support and both Rob and David have made a good start to ensuring that occurs. MAGISTRATE Mr Costanzo has told drivers to wise up, with police finding one in four drivers on drugs or alcohol.
A disgraceful state of affairs, he comments. A woman with drugs in her system with a history of drug driving since 1995 and a man with 0.092 alcohol in his system with eight drink driving offences faced court. Guess what?
Magistrate Costanzo let both offenders walk free.
No wonder criminals snub their noses at the law when magistrates don’t have the guts to sort them out. Disgusting.
SUGARCANE is a wonderful product which can give multiple benefits to the economy. Mossman,
a town in Far North Queensland has come up with a visionary plan to modernise its mill and to produce, apart from 100,000 tonnes of sugar a year, biodegradable plastic as a byproduct that can be used for popular consumer goods.
In addition, sugar cane produces ethanol that enhances the combustion efficiencies of ordinary petrol, thereby reducing city pollution.
Rich fertiliser made from bagasse (what’s left of cane after milling) is a natural byproduct of cane.
Biopharmaceuticals can be made from the plants, and burning bagasse can generate electricity.
So many possibilities for job creation but totally undervalued Australian agricultural industry.
Townships depending on cane are doing it tough because governments are looking the other way.
If governments want to create more jobs then let them look at places like Mossman.
As it is, Queensland’s sugar cane industry is on the ropes.
LIKE Hey Hey It’s Saturday before it, The Footy Show eventually ran its course. Or overrun its course, in my opinion.
Fatty Vautin was a great anchor for many years but any more was too much. Erin Molan is a talented professional and thoroughly deserves to be retained by the Nine Network. Juvenile acts of stupidity cannot be classed as entertainment. And that’s what it was.
