Jail staff on the ball

-

PRISONERS have been busted trying to smuggle phones and cigarettes into a NSW jail hidden inside three soccer balls hurled over the outer fence.

Guards discovered the three balls on Friday morning inside the perimeter fence at a minimum security prison in Windsor, northwest of Sydney.

Two prisoners who tried to retrieve the balls have been segregated and could be charged, Corrective Services NSW said yesterday.

Inside the balls were 15 packets of tobacco, 94 packs of cigarette papers, seven phones, SIM cards and phone chargers.
