Get ready for storms

IT’S a question of “when” not “if” disaster strikes as Get Ready Queensland Week gets under way.

The program encourages communities to prepare for storm season by rolling out a number of activities and initiatives.

Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the week was about the community being as prepared and resilient as possible.

“This might include removing fire hazards from your property, securing loose items, creating an emergency contact list, buying supplied or checking in with your neighbours,” he said.

Get Ready Queensland Week runs until October 14.
