TSS turn it around

-

THE Southport School has bounced back from a heavy first-up GPS cricket defeat by trouncing Churchie at the Village Green on Saturday.

TSS captain Hugo Burdon was the chief destroyer, taking 4-39 plus executing a runout to help skittle the visitors for a measly 104.

Jack Sinfield (1-17 off 10 overs) and Jack Hocart (2-11 off seven) were particularly tidy, while Ky Newitt claimed the other two wickets.

Hocart then backed up his fine bowling effort with a runa-ball 36 to quickly bring TSS within striking distance.

His opening partner Mitch Freeman (26) and No.3 Burdon (26) were at the crease when the winning runs were hit, sealing a nine-wicket victory with 189 balls to spare.

The result marks a drastic turnaround from their Round 1 clash seven days earlier, when Nudgee College won by 116 runs. TSS play away next Saturday against Brisbane State High School.
