Public meeting for Kilkivan, Goomeri, Widgee
GYMPIE Regional Council is asking residents of Kilkivan, Goomeri and Widgee to have their say.
Gympie Regional Council is hosting a community night at the Kilkivan Bowls Club on Tuesday, October 17 at 6pm.
“Part of our community engagement work is to better understand how we can best support our community and deliver services or infrastructure that matches community need. And importantly, this needs to be driven by local community,” Cr Hilary Smerdon said.
“One of the areas we are interested in is how we can open the Kilkivan office up to the community, how can we share our space to support the needs of our local residents?
“Perhaps there’s a need for commuter and internet access, can we offer Skype or other commuter programs, can we offer some training to help community groups with writing grant submissions?
“Do we move the Kilkivan library over to the Kilkivan office, can we offer meeting rooms?
“These are all suggestions but this isn’t up to us to decide, we’re asking the community what they feel they need.
“I really encourage people to attend and have their say but if they can’t, we will be looking at further events with community groups and local schools”.
The community night starts at 6pm at the Kilkivan Bowls club on October 17.
Finger food will provided for guests.
If residents would like more information regarding the night, call the team at the Kilkivan office on 5487 2303 or 5487 2301.
