ONE Nation has had to reissue its How-to-Vote cards for the Gympie election after a spelling error was found on the original printings.

On the card, LNP candidate Tony Perrett’s last name was spelled with only one ‘t’. According to an Electoral Commission Queensland spokeswoman, the card was made invalid by the error.

One Nation candidate Chelle Dobson said the party immediately withdrew the card once the error was identified, and moved to ensure voters were given accurate information as soon as possible.

“New HTV cards have been printed and are being handed out today,” Ms Dobson said.

While a typo might seem a minor error, The Electoral Act 1992 has strict guidelines around How-to-Vote cards, with a number of penalties for parties who are found to be intentionally misleading voters.
