Alternative energy power

The Gympie Times - - LIFE -

IN MY opinion the State Labor government has:

■ Provided price relief by investing $770m to cover the cost of the solar bonus scheme.

Returned Swanbank E gas fired power station into service to increase supply and security

Maintained power stations in public hands to ensure security

Retained profits for investment in electricity generation so placing downward pressure on wholesale prices

■ Quarantined gas supplies for the Australian market rather than for export, thus reducing gas prices

■ Progressed the building of the hydropower station at Burdekin Falls Dam (south of Townsville)

Tracey McWilliam, the Labor candidate for Gympie, supports the development of sustainable, renewable energy and the Labor governments’s effort to keep power price increases far lower than under the previous LNP government. Gympie will benefit from the building of the solar farm at Lower Wonga by private enterprise. — John Kirkpatrick, Chatsworth.
