Gympie ladies golf

ON WED­NES­DAY, Nov 8, the Gympie lady golfers played a 18 hole sta­ble­ford. Scores re­turned showed the re­sults of the re­cent rains with the win­ner scor­ing only 36 points . A far cry from the much higher scores be­ing re­turned some weeks ago. How­ever Tonie Divers was happy to take home the win­ning voucher. Dell Ground­wa­ter, two strokes be­hind on 34 was the run­ner up non a count back. Balls scored in the run­down went to Yoey Coogan 34 c/b, Julie Cove 33 , Keryn Jessen 33, Trisca Wil­liams 32, Stella Mack­lin , Jean Peters & Vir­ginia Reid all on 30 points. The club pin on the 16 was won by Julie Cove with karen Allen win­ning the 17th. Net Ea­gles for the day were scored by Keryn 16, Tonie Divers 10, Julie Cove 6 & 16 & Vir­ginia Reid 11th. Carol Ward says she de­serves the cof­fee at the City Talk Café .

Fri­day 10th saw the Gympie Golf club host the an­nual ladies Zone four­somes. A good field of 80 ladies were con­test­ing the tro­phy with the Gympie com­bi­na­tion of Re­becca O’Neill & Dell Ground­wa­ter tak­ing out the ti­tle for 2017. The young & the old cou­ple com­bined well to score 125 gross for the 27 holes. An­other two Gympie ladies were suc­cess­ful by win­ning the 2nd div gross event. Jean Peters & an­other ju­nior, Cait­lyn Wheat­ley com­bined well to be suc­cess­ful also. Other Gympie ladies to be suc­cess­ful were Betty Bai­ley & Carol Ward, win­ning the 18 hole nett 2nd div & also Ly­dia Costello & Julie Cove took out the best 9 hole nett for the same divi­sion. A good day all round for Gympie both so­cially and tro­phy wise.

With most ladies play­ing on the Fri­day and then a strong field trav­el­ling to Cooroy on Sun­day for the in­ter­club chal­lenge, Satur­day’s field was way down in num­bers. How­ever that didn’t stop Janelle Thor­burn re­turn­ing a nice score of 73 nett to win the voucher of the day. Janelle also won the club pin shot on the 16 hole. Tonie Divers & Cait­lyn Wheat­ley on 74 nett & Kate Sawry 75 nett all won a ball in the run down. Anne Rig­bye took out the pin shot on the 17th while Joy Hatton is en­joy­ing her cof­fee at the City Talk Cafe. Net ea­gles for the day went to Tonie 14th & Cait­lyn 16th.
