New gear boosts Two Mile sports
TWO Mile State School students have taken to athletics with renewed vigour after receiving their order from the recent Coles Sports for Schools promotion.
A school spokeswoman said: “thanks to the amazing generosity of the local community, we were able to send in almost five times as many vouchers than we normally do and so we received a large order of sporting goods for our students”.
The spokeswoman said Two Mile’s biggest item was a junior athletics kit, to allow younger students to learn the basics of athletics.
“This includes soft versions of javelin, discus and high jump and more, all designed to reduce risk of injury while increasing confidence,” she said.
“We also obtained several soft volleyballs, to help with eye hand co-ordination, again while reducing risk of being hurt from the harder, larger volleyballs.
“To finish, we also got a couple of games – co-operation and team building games and elastics, that age old game we enjoyed when we were at school.
“The students will have lots of fun with these and would thank the members of our community for all the help they gave us in obtaining these fabulous sports items.”
