Author and fu­tur­ist, Ross Daw­son be­lieves that the fu­ture of news = trusted ag­gre­ga­tion of con­tent + com­mu­nity + com­merce.

Face­book al­ready has the com­mu­nity and com­merce all but nailed down and Mark Zucker­berg has made it pretty clear that he wants to be the world’s largest con­tent ag­gre­ga­tor. So when the so­cial CEO opens his In­stant Ar­ti­cle doors to the me­dia masses on April 12th, he may very well be on his way to re­al­iz­ing that vi­sion. Pub­lish­ers still ten­u­ously hold the con­tent card, but are sadly lack­ing when it comes to com­mu­nity and com­merce. For them to guar­an­tee their fu­ture they must fill those voids; the voice of the reader must be heard and UGC must be en­cour­aged.

Be­cause with­out di­a­logue there can be no com­mu­nity; and with­out com­mu­nity, there can be no com­merce.
