Fossilisation

The Knitter - - The Knitter loves - by Yarn Stories

With textured stitches inspired by rock formations, the new Fossilisation collection from Yarn Stories has a timeless look. The designs use Fine Merino DK yarn, and showcase the three new shades for autumnwinter: Blue Grey, Penstemon and Heather.

The seven women’s garments by Emma Vining, Charlotte Johnson and Emma Wright include a round-necked cardigan with lace patterns evoking fossilised ferns. The ‘Agate’ cardigan has a more relaxed fit, with its slanted ribbed front bands, and an intriguing stitch pattern that looks like fish scales.

Sweater styles include ‘Shoreline’, a colour-block design with a central rope cable, and ‘Sanibel’, which has multi-directional textured stripes. ‘Ammonite’ is a pretty slash-neck jumper combining cables and lace.

Introducing colourwork into the collection is the ‘Sandstone’ sweater, which pairs a textured stripe pattern on the body with a Fair Isle band around the yoke in warm shades of anthracite, blackberry and toffee.

PDF patterns cost £4 each. Complete knitting kits with yarn are also available. For details and to buy, visit www.yarnstories.com
