The Satur­day Pa­per is look­ing for an edi­tor. The po­si­tion will an­swer to the pa­per’s edi­tor-in-chief, Erik Jensen. This is a job for a dy­namic per­son with a strong in­ter­est in the fu­ture of jour­nal­ism. It is a job for some­one un­ex­pected, some­one with a fresh per­spec­tive, who is in­ter­ested in how we tell sto­ries and why they mat­ter. The suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cant will work with the edi­tor-in-chief to com­mis­sion and edit The Satur­day Pa­per in print and online, build­ing on the pa­per’s rep­u­ta­tion for qual­ity, long-form jour­nal­ism. They will also work to ex­plore and deepen the pa­per’s re­la­tion­ship with its read­ers. The edi­tor will help lead a news­room of jour­nal­ists and sube­d­i­tors and man­age a large pool of free­lancers. They will have a strong sense for news and for man­ag­ing the pa­per’s mix, and will also have a feel for the pa­per’s tone and in­tent. They will have the abil­ity to lead cov­er­age, to work across mul­ti­ple forms, and to shape sto­ries. The Satur­day Pa­per is a lead­ing source of qual­ity writ­ing. It is in­ter­ested in new ways of think­ing, in chal­leng­ing pre­con­ceived no­tions about jour­nal­ism and news.
