Teens charged over string of rob­beries

TEENAGERS aged just 13 and 14 have been charged over mul­ti­ple bur­glar­ies on the Gold Coast.

Po­lice ar­rested and charged the two boys, along with a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old male, af­ter an al­leged break-in at the Pe­ter Se­nior Court res­i­dences at Park­wood on Thurs­day.

A 62-year-old woman re­turned home from a walk about 5.15pm to al­legedly find the youths in her home.

It is al­leged they stole jewellery and a car that was used to flee the scene.

Po­lice tracked them by he­li­copter, but the car was aban­doned on Nerang St at South­port about 6.15pm.

The dog squad was brought in and they were ar­rested a short time later.

Po­lice charged each of the teens with one count of burglary, com­mit­ting an in­dictable of­fence and un­law­ful use of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

The 13-year-old and 14-year-old were also charged with other burglary and steal­ing of­fences, al­legedly com­mit­ted on the Gold Coast this month and in De­cem­ber.
