21 years for ice freak mur­derer

AN ICE freak who killed a man and stabbed a fe­male hostage af­ter po­lice re­fused to give him more drugs must spend at least 21 years be­hind bars. In De­cem­ber 2015, Trevor Daryl Do­herty,

47, stabbed Christo­pher Stevens, 45, in the bot­tom be­fore chas­ing him out of their home in the Mel­bourne sub­urb of Seaford and fin­ish­ing him off with a stab to the neck. The bru­tal at­tack sparked a 14-hour siege with po­lice, with the drugged-up lu­natic de­mand­ing even more drugs. He stabbed the wo­man just above the knee, cut­ting an artery and al­most killing her. Do­herty (pic­tured dur­ing the siege) pleaded not guilty to mur­der, but was con­victed. Yes­ter­day he was sen­tenced to 25 years and six months’ jail. He served nearly eight years in the 1990s for vi­o­lent of­fences and had been in and out of jail ever since. – Her­ald Sun
