100g of pot to help her back pain

A 22-YEAR-OLD carer was caught with al­most 100 grams of marijuana.

Rachael Mary-Ann Glen­nis Mc­crory pleaded guilty on Wed­nes­day in the Rock­hamp­ton Mag­is­trates Court to pos­sess­ing the dan­ger­ous drug.

Duty lawyer Sa­man­tha Le­grady said Mc­crory, who cares for her 90-year-old grand­fa­ther, had pur­chased the marijuana for med­i­cal use.

“It’s a lot of cannabis,” Mag­is­trate Mark Mor­row com­mented.

Mc­crory told the court she pur­chased the drug ev­ery four months to re­duce pain from back prob­lems in­clud­ing arthri­tis.

She was ad­vised by the court to seek med­i­cal treat­ment for her pain and or­dered to a 12month pro­ba­tion or­der. No con­vic­tion was recorded.
