THE Liberal National Party (LNP) has announced it is re-establishing an Agriculture Energy and Water Council to improve collaboration between industry, government and government-owned corporations (GOCs) in considering energy-related issues that impact agriculture.

The council will consist of representatives from the Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF), Canegrowers and AgForce.

QFF president Stuart Armitage welcomed the LNP’s announcement and commended it for willingness to work alongside industry to address unsustainable and unjustifiable electricity prices.

“QFF and industry members have been very vocal on the need for government to address spiralling electricity prices and have been providing considered options that could improve the situation.”
