THERE were 320 cat­tle sold at Lis­more Sa­le­yards on Tues­day, Ian Weir and Son re­ports.

Once again the yard­ing con­sisted mainly of plain con­di­tioned veal­ers/wean­ers and a mixed run of cows.

The mar­ket in gen­eral showed a slight im­prove­ment.

Prime milk and grain–as­sisted veal­ers sold from 265-294c/kg.

Is­abel Lindsay’s santa cross steer sold for 288c/kg, $1088 and John Nilon’s 294c/kg, $985.

The best of the light weaner steers sold to 340-360c/kg but 290-320c/kg was the norm for the heav­ier lines.

Plain veal­ers sold from 230-295c/kg with meat oper­a­tors and re­stock­ers com­pet­ing.

Prices for cows were 5-10c/kg dearer than last week.

Heavy cows sold from 210-234c/kg.

The top cow, a black li­mousin cross, off El­lan­gowan, sold for 234c/kg, $1498.

Dairy cows topped at 224c/kg.


FAR­RELL McCro­hon re­ports that there were 399 cat­tle yarded at Grafton on Tues­day.

The mar­ket for all cat­e­gories ei­ther sold fully firm to dearer.

Bul­locks sold to 283c/kg and cows sold firm to dearer.

Bul­locks sold to 283c/kg and cows 228c/kg.

Veal­ers saw a sig­nif­i­cant price rise, with calves to slaugh­ter sell­ing to 300c/kg.

Re­stock­ers were strong once again, push­ing an­gus wean­ers to 384c/kg.

Jikero Part­ner­ship bul­locks sold to 283c/kg weighed 655kg to re­turn $1829/hd.

Ramornie Sta­tion bul­locks sold to 281c/kg weighed 570kg to re­turn $1597/hd.

PL Su­rawski bul­locks sold to 276c/kg weighed 570kg to re­turn $1569/hd.

RC Child bul­locks sold to 280c/kg weighed 620kg to re­turn $1712/hd.

Shan Farm bul­locks sold to 270c/kg weighed 648kg to re­turn $1743/hd.

AJ Wil­son cows sold to 225c/kg weighed 563kg to re­turn $1266/hd.

Cart­mill Broth­ers cows sold to 221c/kg weighed 520kg to re­turn $1145/hd.

RB & JE Barnier an­gus steers sold to 316c/kg to re­turn $895/hd to re­stock­ers.

JD & AM Want sim­men­tal weaner steers sold to 344c/kg to re­turn $878/hd to re­stock­ers.

Saro Pastoral an­gus cross weaner steers sold to 378c/kg to re­turn $973/hd to re­stock­ers.

Lach­lan Rhodes veal­ers sold to 288c/kg weighed 225kg to re­turn $644/hd.

BW Brown agus weaner steers sold to 384c/kg to re­turn $630/hd to re­stock­ers.

GW & JR Hay an­gus weaner steers sold to 364c/kg to re­turn $525/hd to re­stock­ers.

LC & DA Hughes an­gus weaner heifers sold to 298c/kg to re­turn $392/hd to re­stock­ers.

MP Davis veal­ers sold to 278c/kg weighed 320kg to re­turn $832/hd.


RAY DONO­VAN noted num­bers had plum­meted this week, in one of the small­est yard­ings for quite some time.

All ex­port buy­ers were in at­ten­dance and op­er­ated in a fully firm mar­ket.

The young cat­tle did not ease in price, with some sales be­ing a lit­tle dearer.

The qual­ity of the yard­ing was plainer, with most cat­tle show­ing signs of win­ter. Sale high­lights in­cluded:

T& R Okeefe sold cows 222c/kg, 560kg, $1243.20/hd.

Ben & Skye Howlett sold cows 227.2c/kg, 630kg, $1431.36/hd.

AJ, PJ & SM Wil­liamson sold cows 223.2c/kg, 525kg, $1171.80/hd.

MJ & AJ Brown sold cows 223.2c/kg, 555kg, $1238.76/hd.

SJ & JA Pereira sold bulls 250c/kg, 870kg, $2175/hd.

Also sold vealer steers 326.2c/kg, 270kg, $880.74/hd.

Scott John­son sold steers 326.2c/kg, 226.7kg, $739.39/hd.

DC & LJ Es­sex sold steers 360.2c/kg, 217.5kg, $783.44/hd.

Brett Martin sold steers 352.2c/kg, 230kg, $810/hd.
