Prop­er­ties where the age at last wean­ing was ^11 years of age had lower mor­tal­ity (6.2% v 12.2%).

Prop­er­ties which re­tained older cows but prac­tised phos­pho­rus sup­ple­men­ta­tion had a lower mor­tal­ity (9.5% vs 17.5%).
