Nom­i­na­tions now open for biose­cu­rity awards

THE search has be­gun for Aus­tralia’s true biose­cu­rity cham­pi­ons through the 2019 Aus­tralian Biose­cu­rity Awards.

Head of biose­cu­rity at the Depart­ment of Agri­cul­ture and Wa­ter Re­sources, Lyn O’Con­nell, said the an­nual Biose­cu­rity Awards are an im­por­tant recog­ni­tion of Aus­tralians mak­ing sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions to our worldlead­ing biose­cu­rity sta­tus.

“Our strict con­di­tions pro­tect our $60 bil­lion agri­cul­tural in­dus­tries, as well as our unique en­vi­ron­ment, na­tive flora and fauna, our tourism in­dus­tries and life­style,” she said.

“Biose­cu­rity is a shared re­spon­si­bil­ity and we want to ap­plaud the ef­forts of those sup­port­ing and pro­mot­ing the sys­tems that up­hold it.”

Nom­i­na­tions are now open and close on Fri­day, Novem­ber 9, 2018.
