A DRIVER who re­fused to give a road­side drug test after be­ing found with a crys­tal meth pipe will face Lis­more Lo­cal Court on Tues­day. On Thursday at 8.40pm po­lice al­lege they saw a car make a sud­den turn on Casino St. Po­lice fol­lowed the car which then be­gan speed­ing at 120kmh. As it drove, sparks flew from the un­der­car­riage of the vehicle. On El­liott Rd the vehicle came to a sud­den stop. The driver, a 28-year-old Ar­mi­dale man, pro­vided a neg­a­tive breath test for al­co­hol. He then re­fused to do a road­side drug test. A search of the vehicle re­sulted in drug para­pher­na­lia (ice pipe) be­ing lo­cated. At Lis­more po­lice sta­tion the man re­fused to par­tic­i­pate in a drug test. He was charged with mul­ti­ple of­fences.

A PO­LICE of­fi­cer has been in­jured fol­low­ing a brawl at Tweed Heads on Satur­day. It’s al­leged about 6pm two men at­tended a li­censed premises on Min­jung­bal Dr, Tweed Heads, where they as­saulted sev­eral pa­trons and dam­aged a vehicle. Later in the evening it is al­leged the two men be­came in­volved in a brawl out­side an­other li­censed premises on Wharf St. When po­lice were called, one of the men as­saulted an at­tend­ing fe­male of­fi­cer. A 23-year-old man was charged with assault po­lice of­fi­cer in ex­e­cu­tion of duty, two counts of af­fray and ma­li­cious dam­age. He was re­fused bail and ap­peared in Tweed Heads Lo­cal Court on Sun­day. He was granted con­di­tional bail and will next ap­pear in Tweed Heads Lo­cal Court on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 3.
