LAST year’s Lismore Cup winner, Collaboration, is one of the 19 nominations for Thursday’s $60,000 Lismore Showcase Cup (1200m).

The Joanne Hardy-trained gelding, a seven-year-old son of Halling, blitzed his rivals to win last year’s Cup by just over 10 lengths on a Heavy 8 track.

It was an amazing effort from the Coffs Harbour gelding.

He has seven starts since running 14th in the Maclean Cup at Grafton, 10th in the Sawtell Cup at Coffs Harbour, seventh in the Ken Howard Cup at Coffs, 12th in the Taree Cup and then seventh in the recent Tuncurry Cup over 2100m.

Scotty Be Gotti (second) and Outstrip (third) placed behind Collaboration in last year’s Cup and have been entered by their respective Ballina (Stephen Lee) and Eagle Farm (Brad Herne) stables.

Outstrip is also one of four last start winners nominated as well, joined by Meteorologist (Marcus Wilson), One More Two More (Andrew Parramore) and Skytrek (Barry Lockwood).

Outstrip won over 2200m at the recent Murwillumbah Cup meeting, Meteorologist was successful at Warwick Farm on August 23, claiming a 2200m Benchmark 70 while One More Two More won a 1900m Benchmark 55 at Kempsey.

Skytrek was the first leg of a winning double for Eagle Farm-based Barry Lockwood at last week’s Ballina Cup meeting.

It was the fifth win in 22 starts for the five-year-old gelding son of Not a Single Doubt and part of a big day for Lockwood, who hails from Tamworth and snared his second on the day when Cashing Up won the Ballina Cup.

Lockwood has also nominated Cashing Up at Lismore, entering the Ballina Cup winner in the $30,000 Rousillon Showcase Handicap (1516m), one of 11 nominations for one of the two main support races.

The Cup meeting festivities begin Wednesday night at the Rous Hotel in Lismore with a Cup Calcutta from around 6pm.
