‘Quake’ may have been a nuke
A 2.9 MAGNITUDE earthquake was recorded yesterday near Kim Jong-un’s nuclear test site. It came after a 6.1 magnitude quake last month that Pyongyang claimed was the result of a hydrogen bomb test. Yesterday’s quake was 23km north-east of Sungjibaegam, in an area used by the North to carry out nuclear drills. The US Geological Survey said in a statement the event occurred in the area of the previous North Korean nuclear tests and had earthquake-like characteristics, but “we cannot conclusively confirm at this time” its nature (natural or human-made).
