Floods kill many in Vietnam
FLOODS have hit north and central Vietnam this week, killing at least 54 people, with 39 missing, the disaster agency says. Vietnam is more affected by destructive storms and flooding than some neighbours because of its long coast. This week’s floods are the worst in years. Nineteen people in four neighbouring homes were buried alive on Thursday by a landslide. More than 34,000 houses have been submerged or damaged. More than 22,000ha of rice have been ruined and 180,000 animals killed or washed away. Floods have also affected seven of 77 provinces in Thailand.
