Road run­ning out for karters

Com­pe­ti­tion heats up as end of rac­ing sea­son looms

THE Lis­more Kart Club is reach­ing the busi­ness end of the sea­son with 56 drivers turn­ing out for its race meet­ing on Sun­day.

The Cadet 9 class (7-9 years), bet­ter known as “pocket rock­ets”, saw a good field of 12 face the starter.

Rac­ing was close but at the end it was Kay­den Thomp­son who took first place, with Braith Santin sec­ond and brother Jake Santin in third.

In the Cadet 12 class (9-12 years), a field of 11 young rac­ers made up a very com­pet­i­tive group. The win went to Kye Suf­folk, with Drew Bid­ner in sec­ond and young fe­male driver Alice Buck­ley in third.

In the Ju­nior KA4 class it was well rep­re­sented with six en­tries. Sam Sec­combe took first place from Jack Porter while Beau Batch­e­lor fin­ished third.

In the Ju­nior KA3 class, there was only two com­peti­tors so they were run in con­junc­tion with the KA4. Thomas Gal­lagher took the win from Ja­cob Le­sha.

In the KA4 Se­nior group (A and B), rac­ing was close among the 11 com­peti­tors.

Jor­dan King­ham won, with Dmitri Nom­mensen in sec­ond and Ryan Newell third.

This group is di­vided into two and in group B, Jes­sica Matthews came first, Ian Neil sec­ond and Dean Nom­mensen third.

The TAG 125 Re­stricted Light Class had seven com­peti­tors face the starter, with Wil­liam Sec­combe fin­ish­ing ahead of Cameron McPher­son and Matthew Neill.

There were five rac­ers turn out in the TAG 125 Re­stricted Medium and the rac­ing was in­tense, with Ja­son Rout­ley tak­ing a well-earned win from El­wyn Gar­rard who came sec­ond but kept Rout­ley on his toes. Joshua Dagg came in third.

TAG 125 Re­stricted Heavy had two en­tries and they were com­bined with the TAG Light class. Ja­son Hardy took the win from Matt Bid­ner.

The final meet­ing for the sea­son will be on De­cem­ber 3 and in­cludes both rac­ing and some fea­tured classes fol­lowed by the pre­sen­ta­tion of club cham­pi­ons awards.

The club will then be in re­cess, with the first meet­ing sched­uled for 2018 be­ing held on Fe­bru­ary 11.
