Man held over hit­man’s mur­der

A MAN has been ar­rested in con­nec­tion with the mur­der of un­der­world hit­man Ha­mad

As­saad, who was gunned down in his Syd­ney drive. De­tec­tives raided a home in the sub­urb of Greenacre yes­ter­day, ar­rest­ing a 24-yearold man. It is un­der­stood po­lice will al­lege the man car­ried out sur­veil­lance on As­saad

29-year-old Ke­mal Barakat, was killed in his

Mort­lake apart­ment in March. As­saad was stand­ing in his driveway when he was shot mul­ti­ple times in front of his 12-year-old nephew. As­saad was un­der po­lice sur­veil­lance and his mur­der was cap­tured on video. As the gunmen es­caped, po­lice rushed to save the 29-year-old but he died at the scene. As­saad was a prime sus­pect in sev­eral un­solved shoot­ings, in­clud­ing the mur­der of un­der­world fig­ure Walid Ah­mad.
