Barba appeal turned down
BEN Barba will not play for St Helens until August after failing to have his 12-match ban overturned.
The 2014 Super League champions took advantage of a new marquee player rule to sign the ex-NRL star to a two-and-a-half year deal.
However the Rugby Football League decided to honour a ban imposed by the NRL and an independent operational rules tribunal after Barba tested positive for cocaine during Cronulla’s NRL Premiership celebrations.
Barba arrived at the Saints via French rugby union club Toulon with the hefty suspension hanging over his head.
