New fast track into teaching

The Observer - - NEWS -

WITH the job market in Gladstone and Central Queensland difficult at the moment, a change of career could be an option.

CQUniversity has come up with a way people might be able to make that change.

Engineers, sports scientists, biologists, chemists, accountants and lawyers are some of those eligible to complete a new range of Master of Teaching courses, to transition into classroom roles.

CQUniversity is offering a fast-tracked Masters – able to be completed in only one-a-half years – with the flexibility of distance education.

“These courses will attract those who have just completed a bachelor course in a field other than education and those who have a bachelor degree from a field other than education and have been working in their relevant industry and now want a career change into teaching,” CQUniversity’s Head of Course for Secondary and Postgraduate Teacher Education, Dr Rickie Fisher said.

Dr Fisher said the courses had national accreditation which meant they could be done anywhere in Australia.
