Power sellers jolted by PM

The Observer - - NEWS NATION -

MALCOLM Turnbull says major energy retailers have agreed to contact customers to let them know when a better power deal is available.

The Prime Minister has brought the heads of the leading retailers together again to outline further steps he wants them to take to ease pressure on households.

He said two million Australian families and small businesses could save hundreds of dollars on power by moving to cheaper plans.

“This is a very big breakthrough, and it’s happening here and now. A lot of the things we are doing on energy are long-term, like Snowy Hydro 2.0, but this is helping Australian families now,” Mr Turnbull said in Sydney.

Retailers will write to customers by the end of the year to inform them they may be able to get a better electricity deal.
