Men­tal health is­sues an on­go­ing con­cern

THE Jean Hailes Women’s Health Sur­vey 2017, released on Sun­day, has shown many Aus­tralian women are deal­ing with men­tal health is­sues, with 40% pro­fes­sion­ally di­ag­nosed with de­pres­sion and anx­i­ety. The sur­vey of more than 10,000 women across Aus­tralia found that: Women aged 18–35 years are the most anx­ious Nearly 50% said they wor­ried ‘ex­ces­sively’ about dif­fer­ent things sev­eral days a week

Half of those sur­veyed have sleep­ing is­sues.

The sur­vey re­sults also re­vealed that many are strug­gling to get enough exercise. The main rea­sons for not ex­er­cis­ing were be­ing too tired and not hav­ing enough time. Sixty per­cent of women are not ex­er­cis­ing for at least 2.5 hours a week.

Weight is also an is­sue with 41% say­ing they are slightly over­weight and 21% quite over­weight.
