CY­CLING: Aus­tralian Nathan Haas has cel­e­brated Valen­tine’s Day with his first vic­tory since Au­gust 2016 by tak­ing the 167.5km sec­ond stage of the Tour of Oman. The 28-year-old Haas ex­ploded past Olympic cham­pion Greg Van Aver­maet (BMC Rac­ing Team) and Alexey Lut­senko (As­tana) in the spring home for his first win with his new team Ka­tusha-Alpecin. “I just wanted to give my­self a nice Valen­tine’s Day present,” Haas said. The Aussie leads the six-stage race’s gen­eral clas­si­fi­ca­tion by just four sec­onds af­ter time bonuses. The next high­est placed Aus­tralian is Ni­cholas Schultz from the Caja Ru­ral-Se­guros RGA team, just un­der four min­utes be­hind.
