Haas rules Oman
CYCLING: Australian Nathan Haas has celebrated Valentine’s Day with his first victory since August 2016 by taking the 167.5km second stage of the Tour of Oman. The 28-year-old Haas exploded past Olympic champion Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing Team) and Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) in the spring home for his first win with his new team Katusha-Alpecin. “I just wanted to give myself a nice Valentine’s Day present,” Haas said. The Aussie leads the six-stage race’s general classification by just four seconds after time bonuses. The next highest placed Australian is Nicholas Schultz from the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team, just under four minutes behind.
