Funding falls short for roads

The Observer - - NEWS -

A SHORTFALL of funding has left three remaining sections of the Monto Mount Perry Road unsealed and dangerous to drivers using it, says Member for Callide Colin Boyce. With recent road fatalities occurring on the Mt Perry-Monto Road and Mt Perry-Gayndah Roads, the serious matter was raised in Queensland Parliament by Mr Boyce. The Minister for Department of Transport and Main Roads, Mark Bailey stated a concept plan has been done regarding the sealing of the final three sections. “There is currently no funding allocated to construct these upgrades,” Mr Bailey said. “However, should funding become available in the future, the project is well positioned to progress to construction. Mr Bailey said that competing priorities was more of a challenge due to more than $600 million being cut from transport funding during the term of the previous Liberal National Party Government.
