THE Tas­ma­nian woman killed while cy­cling in New York City is be­ing re­mem­bered as a beau­ti­ful girl and as a bub­bly and bright soul.

Madi­son Ly­den, 23, died shortly af­ter be­ing struck by a garbage truck near Cen­tral Park on Fri­day af­ter­noon, US time.

Ms Ly­den (pic­tured) moved to Vic­to­ria in 2016 to study.

A friend from Deakin Univer­sity, Emily Boubis, posted on so­cial me­dia: “Rest in peace Maddy … You brought so much love, light and laugh­ter to my life, and I’ll cher­ish that for a very long time. You were a bub­bly and bright soul, and a won­der­ful friend. Thank you for ev­ery­thing we shared.”

Friend Steph Keating wrote: “Mads lived life to the fullest, and was the most fun and bub­bli­est girl around. Send­ing so much love to Madi’s fam­ily. RIP gor­geous girl.”

Guil­ford Young Col­lege pub­lished a so­cial me­dia post that ac­knowl­edged “with great sad­ness” Ms Ly­den’s death.

“A great friend of many of our past stu­dents,” the col­lege wrote.

The truck driver who fa­tally struck Ms Ly­den at Cen­tral Park has briefly ap­peared in court charged with drink-driv­ing.
