Leishman eyes prize and no big mistakes
GOLF: Australian Marc Leishman said he had learnt from his defeat at TPC Boston two weeks ago as he searched for his second PGA Tour success at the BMW Championship.
Leishman (pictured) took a five-shot lead over fellow Aussie Jason Day and American Rickie Fowler into the final round at Conway Farms after a third round three-under-par 68 left him on -19under.
A victory at the penultimate FedEx Cup playoffs this morning would put the Victorian in a great spot to win the FedEx Cup and the $10m bonus which goes with it. Leishman said dropping five shots on the back nine at TPC Boston, handing American world No.4 Justin Thomas his fifth Tour win of the season, was a bitter pill to swallow.
“I usually say to my wife, if I have a bad round, give me 10 minutes and I’ll be OK. (Boston) took a day. It stung a bit,” he said.
Day said beating his in-form compatriot was going to be a tough task.
