New lease of life for video store as GPs move in

The Queensland Times - - NEWS | BETTER BUSINESS -

A POPULAR Ipswich doctor’s surgery has snapped at an opportunity for expansion less than a kilometre down the road.

The recent closure of Network Video at Booval has opened the door for the Station Rd Medical Centre to create a much larger home, with increased services and more car parks for its patients.

Centre spokeswoman Karen Harrold said the fitout of the former video shop would begin after Christmas, with a scheduled move-in date of late-February. Services will be expanded to include pathology, psychology and physiotherapy in addition to general practice.

With the additional space available, the plan is to create a three-bay treatment room and theatre for minor surgical procedures.

“At the moment we’ll maintain our four GPs but there will be room for expansion,” Mrs Harrold said.

“This is great news for our patients because it’s a lot closer to the train station and bus stop and there are also 30 parking spaces on site. Parking is minimal where we are at the moment.”

Station Rd Medical has been at its current location on the corner of Brisbane and South Station Rd for more than 20 years.

Mrs Harrold said the practice has simply outgrown its current location and management had been looking for a new site for some time.

The departure of Network Video earlier this year proved to be perfect timing.
