Abbott only person who can save LNP

The Queensland Times - - NEWS | OPINION -

THE Federal LNP is haemorrhaging under Malcolm Turnbull.

Unless it changes leadership now there is no hope of their survival; the LNP under Mr Turnbull cannot win.

Peter Dutton, while a good man, is far too green for the insurmountable job ahead. Julie Bishop was compliant with throwing Tony Abbott under the bus.

The LNP’s only hope now is to reinstate Mr Abbott as leader because he is the only man with fire in his belly to drag the Liberals out of the mire that Mr Turnbull thrust them into.

Get Tony now before all hope is lost. — ROBERT McBEATH Raceview

Letter writer should run for parliament

I TOTALLY agree with all points raised by Judith Hewson (QT 14/10).

Maybe she should run for parliament! Would have my vote! — LYN STUART Redbank

Plovers are lovers of downpipes

THOSE amazing plovers; they have moved into our parks and on to sports fields.

We’ve all seen them but some people have even seen the plovers nest on the roof of the Brassall State School Library and get their chicks down to the ground through the rainwater downpipes.

Is there anything more amazing than that? — BARRY BEETHAM Ipswich

Upset over theft of bird eggs

POSSIBILY the most disturbing and upsetting story I’ve read in a long time was the theft of the plover eggs (QT 14/10).

Why? How can people be so cruel? — JEANETTE COLEBOURNE Booval

There are no grey areas around DV

PARTIES are distancing themselves preference-wise from One Nation after the statement “Good sex should be in the grey area between tickle fight and domestic violence” appeared on the Facebook page of the adult store Thuringowa candidate Mark Thornton’s owns.

Does Pauline Hanson, who supported Mr Thornton after this statement, feel differently? — ELIZABETH CURWEN Redbank Plains

Getting sex education right in classroom

OWEN Jacques (X-Rated Sex Ed? QT 11/11) obviously believes in sex education being taught in schools.

Mr Jacques said “our young people need to know about their bodies before they learn about STIs”.

Knowledge does form part of the empowerment process. Another part of the process, though, is values.

I would like to know the values behind this belief of Mr Jacques. — SAMUEL CARROLL Bundamba
