THE Racehorse Hotel is sure to go off with a bang tonight as a fiery burlesque show dances onto the stage.

Big Bang Burlesque, which combines sultry dance routines with fireworks and special effects, will entertain the crowd for three hours at their first Ipswich show at the Booval watering hole on Saturday.

The show is co-produced by Scarlet Tinkabelle and her business partner Pyra Technix, who love to teach and show off burlesque to people across the country.

“We love to bring burlesque shows to communities that don’t get opportunities to see shows like this,” Ms Tinkabelle said.

“We started off with shows on the Sunshine Coast, because there was nothing like this up there. We also went to Bundaberg, Goulburn (in New South Wales) and have done one show in Brisbane.

“This will be the first time we will be bringing our large show to Ipswich.”

The three-hour spectacular will showcase a number of performers who have spent years mastering their skills, just like Ms Tinkabelle.

“I come from a background of dancing. I have done ballet, jazz and other classes since the age of two,” she said.

“My friends were doing burlesque classes and asked if I wanted to go along with them, so that’s how I started.

“It gives me an opportunity to explore new creative outlets which is very different to my day job.

“I like how liberating burlesque dance is and learning how to explore your body in a different way.”

Joining Ms Tinkabelle on stage will be interstate stars as well as one dancer from Canada.

“There really will be something for everyone,” she said.

“There will be drag performers, classic burlesque and comedy burlesque.

“We also have fireworks and special effects, which is something that hasn’t been done in a burlesque show before, except by us.”

Doors open at 6.30pm at the Racehorse Hotel, with the show starting at 7pm.

Tickets start at $30 but rise to $45 for the VIP treatment, which is to be seated in the front three rows.
