Body found on river bank

A CRAIGEBURN woman has been found dead on the bank of Campaspe River, near Runnymede.

Echuca police Detective Senior Constable Peter Colliver said police, with the assistance of SES, uncovered the body about 5.30pm on Tuesday.

‘‘The body was found on the bank of the river near the Runnymede rest stop, just off the Northern Hwy,’’ he said.

‘‘There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.’’

The 56-year-old was reported missing on July 17.

Police will now prepare a report for the coroner.
