Rutter’s ready to amaze

- By Gabby Pulsoni

SHE’S considered one of the leading musicians of our time. And she’s on her way to Moama. Internationally acclaimed flautist Jane Rutter (pictured above) will perform as part of the South West Music concert series at Moama Anglican Grammar on Sunday.

Jane is a household name in Australia, has toured extensively here and overseas, and has 17 top selling solo albums under her belt.

Jane — who will be flying into Australia following concerts in France — said she was excited to be coming to Moama.

“I can’t wait to play for you all,” she said.

“I’ve heard great things about the region, the warmth of the people and the loveliness of the area.

“I love being in the country. There is nothing quite like the enthusiasm of audiences in country towns.”

Moama Anglican Grammar acting principal Kelly McKay said the school was proud to be hosting her.

“It’s great to have such a renowned musician in the area and we are honoured she has chosen our school to host this event,” she said.

Jane will be performing Flute Spirits and the Four Seasons, a program which will see her play up to 12 different classical and ethnic flutes.

Jane’s concert is the last for the South West Music concert series, which aims to bring world-class performances to the region.

Tickets are available online, at the door, from call 5881 4736. ■ Violinist and senior lecturer and co-ordinator of strings at Monash University School of Music Conservatorium Finton Murphy will also perform at a concert at MAGS multipurpose hall on September 10. The concert, open to music lovers, will be held from 2pm to 3pm, followed by a strings masterclass from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. People from around the region, as well as Bendigo and Numurkah will attend, with afternoon tea to follow. swmusic.org.au or
