Over 60s

TWENTY-SIX teams of four bowlers gathered at Rochester Bowling Club for the third round of the local 60s and over Lawn Bowling Championship.

A week earlier the day’s bowling at Moama Bowling Club had to be called off due to the weather conditions.

This week 104 bowlers took to the greens at 1pm in blustery winds, with predicted showers to follow.

Midway through our second game, down came the rain. We stopped play for early afternoon tea; thanks to the Rochester ladies, it was really appreciated.

After the break play resumed in windy conditons however the greens were running well.

Winners were from Lockington - Neil Haines (our 60 and over president), Phil Collins, Jeff Shawcross and Don Smith.

Runners-up were from Moama - John Ryan, John Kiely, Greg Pettigrove and Bob Bartlett.

The next game will be held at Kyabram on Wednesday, September 20 starting at 1pm.
