Sam the man is club champ

ECHUCA-MOAMA Cy­cling Club re­cently held its 2017 road cham­pi­onships with Sa­mual Eddy smash­ing the A grade com­pe­ti­tion.

The 16-year-old fin­ished first in the road race at Trewins Rd climb, Moama, on Sat­ur­day with Kay­den Jef­freys, 18, in sec­ond and Eddy’s brother Patrick, 14, com­ing third over the 52km track.

Twenty-five rid­ers com­peted across four grades.

B grade win­ner, rac­ing 42km, was Graeme Butcher, fol­lowed by Mick Davy as run­ner-up and Mark Dickson in third.

Rus­sell Jef­freys made the win­ners podium tak­ing out C grade, the 32km event, with Ray Hamil­ton in sec­ond and young Harry Shearer in third.

In D grade, over 22km, Dar­ren McKem­mish was the win­ner and Mick Ci­avarella came sec­ond.

The time trial was raced on Sun­day, Sep­tem­ber 10, along Mt Ter­ricks Rd and saw 19 rid­ers com­pet­ing over a 10km dis­tance.

A grade was again taken out by Sa­mual Eddy, fol­lowed by Kay­den Jef­freys in sec­ond and Chase Costello-Man­ning in third.

Mick Davy, Graeme Butcher and Steven Rob­son all made the B grade podium in that or­der, while Gary Ge­orge fin­ished first in C grade, Dave Oman as run­ner-up and Rus­sell Jef­freys in third.

D grade win­ner was Dar­ren McKem­mish fol­lowed by Mick Ci­avarella as run­ner-up.

The club cham­pi­onships pre­sen­ta­tion will be held on Fri­day, Sep­tem­ber 22, at 6.30pm at the Moama RSL.
