Expo for se­niors on Tues­day

THE Se­niors Fes­ti­val Expo is be­ing held on Tues­day at the Kerang Me­mo­rial Hall from 11am-3pm.

Mayor Brian Gib­son is open­ing the event, which cel­e­brates the con­tri­bu­tion older peo­ple make to the com­mu­nity.

“This free event gives se­niors the op­por­tu­nity to meet with health and aged care providers, com­mu­nity groups, leisure and life­style ser­vices,” Cr Gib­son said.

There will be live en­ter­tain­ment by the Young at Heart singers, a Pro Rock dance class, sweet treats demon­stra­tions, along with cook­ing, knit­ting and craft com­pe­ti­tions — as well as free show­bags for the first 100 en­trants.

A bar­be­cue lunch by the Lions Club will be avail­able be­tween 12pm and 1pm by gold coin do­na­tion.

Free buses will be avail­able from Leitchville, Co­huna, Koon­drook, Murra­bit, Lake Charm, Quam­bat­ook and Lal­bert.

The Se­niors Fes­ti­val Expo is part of the 2017 Vic­to­rian Se­niors Fes­ti­val which runs dur­ing Oc­to­ber.

“I en­cour­age Gan­nawarra se­niors to get a copy of the fes­ti­val flyer and see the amaz­ing range of events and ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer,’’ Cr Gib­son said.

‘‘Don’t for­get, pub­lic trans­port is free for Se­niors Card hold­ers from Oc­to­ber 8-15,’’ he said.
