BILLABONG Ranch Ad­ven­ture Park won the ex­cel­lence in tourism cat­e­gory.

The fam­ily-run busi­ness ‘‘didn’t ex­pect’’ to come out on top.

‘‘This is a com­plete sur­prise,’’ owner Kerri Ac­quisto said.

‘‘We were up against some great tourism busi­nesses and we are in great com­pany in the twin towns.

‘‘This is for all our fam­ily and staff who make all of it pos­si­ble.

‘‘Most of them couldn’t be here tonight be­cause they were work­ing.’’ Kerri said their hard work had paid off. ‘‘This award isn’t just great for us but it will cre­ate con­fi­dence in our staff and, more im­por­tantly, in our cus­tomers. ‘‘It is just very ex­cit­ing.’’ Billabong Ranch is open seven days and of­fers a num­ber of ad­ven­ture ac­tiv­i­ties pro­vid­ing the op­por­tu­nity for vis­i­tors to try some­thing new or test their skills.

There is on-site ac­com­mo­da­tion for groups and schools hous­ing 120 peo­ple in sev­eral build­ings and more than 25 ac­tiv­i­ties to choose from.

Billabong Ranch is also the host of the Brumby Run be­ing held on Novem­ber 3. There are three cour­ses to choose from.
