Having a blooming good time

ECHUCA’S Uniting Church hall in Hare St will be full of colour when the fifth annual Native Plant Showcase is held on Saturday.

The Australian Plant Society’s Echuca-Moama group will host the event, highlighting how spectacular and diverse the nation’s plants can be.

There will be a huge range of different native flowers, displays from Birdlife Australia and Strathallan Family Landcare, sales of plants and books, and a special display from the Strathallan Glider Sanctuary.

The special feature this year is plants of the grassland.

Organisers said it was a great opportunity for people to see and learn about native plants.

Flowers are sourced by group members from local gardens as well as a few special cultivars from the Yarra Yarra Group Australian Plant Society.

With the drier season this year, organisers said it would be interesting to see just what would turn up.

Entry is $2 and there will be lucky door prizes and a raffle.

Women from the church will be selling morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch.

Doors open at 9am and close about 4pm.
