Kind of excited about kinder funding

-

LEITCHVILLE Kindergarten has secured more than $300,000 in funding.

The $314,000 grant from the Department of Education and Training Annual Children’s Capital Grant will assist with the upgrade and building of their facilities.

“For three years Gannawarra Shire Council has submitted applications for a number of our services and on the third year success in obtaining a fully funded grant of $314,000 for Leitchville Preschool was achieved,” mayor Brian Gibson said.

“The preschool is extremely popular within the shire with attendance numbers at the service steadily growing each year.’’

The Leitchville Preschool was first opened in 1943 and is an old building that has been refurbished over the years to its current configuration.

“While the current preschool building has disability access through the front door, there is no disability access to the playground for children with additional needs,” Cr Gibson said.

“The funding will be put towards the refurbishment of the current preschool facility to extend the capacity, access and functionality of the old building, whilst allowing the inclusion of additional early childhood services to operate in the township of Leitchville.’’

The Children’s Facilities Capital Program (CFCP) supports the provision of high quality early years programs for children and their families.

Upgrades to the Leitchville Kindergarten are expected to take place later this year.
