Big boost at Moama reserve
MOAMA locals can look forward to further upgrades at the Moama Recreation Reserve thanks to funding from round two of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Murray River Council was awarded $736,053 to develop Zone 2 of the Moama Recreation Reserve, which includes car parking, landscaping, lighting and an additional barbecue area.
Deputy Mayor Gen Campbell welcomed the funding, adding there were various events and competitions held in this particular area of the reserve.
“Our local soccer and athletics groups are heavy users of this space,’’ she said.
‘‘The installation of lighting will extend the available use of the oval while the barbecue facilities and landscaped areas will be a welcome addition for both players and spectators.’’
The Zone 2 works will now coincide with the $3.9 million Zone 1 project improvements funded under Murray River Council’s Stronger Communities Funding as well as the $384,294 Zone 4 upgrades funded under the first round of the State Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
The Zone 2 area covers the existing sporting fields used for soccer, little athletics, touch football and community events.
Cr Campbell added the improvements to car parking will increase safety at the reserve by segregating vehicles and pedestrians.
“These type of improvements will certainly go a long way for the user groups and will also make it easier for all community members to stay involved in local recreational opportunities,” she said.
