Sport­ing clubs cash in

SIX clubs in Cam­paspe are among 512 grass­roots sports clubs across the state shar­ing $815,000 in grants to boost equip­ment, skills and ad­min­is­tra­tion ex­per­tise.

The State Gov­ern­ment 2018-19 Sport­ing Club Grants Pro­gram pro­vides clubs up to $1000 for new uni­forms and equip­ment, up to $2000 for train­ing coaches, of­fi­cials and vol­un­teers and up to $5000 to im­prove op­er­a­tional ef­fec­tive­ness.

The suc­cess­ful clubs in­clude: ■ Echuca Moama Hockey Club; ■ Echuca South Cricket Club; ■ Echuca Foot­ball & Netball Club; ■ Rochester and District Horse and Pony Club; ■ Kyabram Foot­ball and Netball Club; and ■ Gir­garre Cricket Club. The pro­gram aims to make sport more ac­ces­si­ble and in­clu­sive, in­crease lo­cal par­tic­i­pa­tion, stim­u­late lo­cal economies, and build sus­tain­able sport and re­cre­ation and vol­un­teer op­por­tu­ni­ties.
