ECHUCA pilots can lift their safety skills to new heights at a free aviation seminar this week.

The seminar will focus on defensive flying to make Echuca skies even safer.

All local pilots are invited to take part in the safety event being run by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Pilots will learn more about threat and error management skills, as well as communication and situational awareness.

Threats to safe flying can be adverse weather, mechanical problems or other air traffic. Errors by pilots can be fuel mismanagement, incorrect aircraft settings or navigation mistakes.

CASA’s Peter Gibson said local pilots will be given practical examples of how to fly defensively to best manage threats and errors.

“Echuca pilots can be leaders in aviation safety by attending next week’s seminar,” Mr Gibson said. “Local pilots have good technical flying skills and can now further enhance their safety performance. “Our goal is safe skies for all.” The Echuca aviation safety seminar is Wednesday at 6:30pm at the Echuca Aero Club. People attending are asked to book online at the CASA website.
