At the Fri­day evening bar­be­cue the lucky mem­bers draw favoured Kevin Hum­bert in the mega vic­tory.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the CVBD women on clinch­ing the North­ern Chal­lenge shield on Sun­day at the Moama Bowl­ing Club. Un­for­tu­nately the lo­cal CVBD men failed to win the Norm Knopp shield, los­ing the games against Goul­burn Val­ley 51-77 and Bendigo 60-74 be­fore de­feat­ing North­ern District 103-59. Goul­burn Val­ley de­feated the Bendigo District in a fi­nal win­ner-takes-all round three to col­lect the shield.

The Jean Sprague (Goul­burn Val­ley) rink won the best per­formed team for the women while the John Stokes (GV) four won the mens.

The club ex­tends a great wel­come to new mem­bers Mary Atkins, Denise Gil­more and Brian Kin­nane. We trust that you all en­joy your time with us.

Cam­paspe 60 and over bowls ON YET an­other beau­ti­ful sunny day Cam­paspe 60 and over bowls cel­e­brated the Len Vine Shield.

Len’s son Bruce and daugh­ter Joy were present to as­sist in the day.

Some 120 bowlers turned out at the Moama Bowl­ing Club and af­ter a very pleas­ant day we had two three-game win­ners.

The even­tual run­ners-up were from Tongala: Alan Davis, Stu­art Reid, Ken Camp­bell and skip Ian Parkinson.

The win­ners of the day were pre­sented with the Len Vine Shield and were from Echuca. Peter Phy­land, Ron Payne, Mike Meyer and skip Tony Deenan.

A great day was en­joyed by all par­tic­i­pants. Next week’s game is at Tongala at 11am.

Moama RSL IN­DOOR bowls re­sults from the pre­vi­ous week saw 27 play­ers take part in four games of seven ends.

The win­ners on 33 points were Mar­garet Green (skip), Bev Guarda and Dawn Beer. Run­ners-up with 33 points were Pamela Rey­ment (skip), Colin Hicks, Myrle Clancy and Doug Gill.

Con­so­la­tion prizes went to Roy Prigg, Topsy Haw and Phyl­lis Eley.

City of Echuca Bowls Club ECHUCA’S di­vi­sion one week­end pen­nant side recorded a good win on Satur­day, de­feat­ing the pre­vi­ously un­beaten Tongala side by 16 shots.

Echuca had two rink wins, with Ge­off Beattie’s side of Carly Tay­lor, Mark Evans and Philip Thorn fin­ish­ing their day with a 23-shot win.

The di­vi­sion two side also com­peted against Tongala and de­spite two rink wins, lost the match by a sin­gle shot.

Di­vi­sion three played Tongala at home, and fin­ished the day with an 11-shot win.

Den­nis Comp­ton’s team of Jack Shearer, Nathan Beecroft and Ron Payne won their game by 10 shots, and Norm Hodge, Bill Toll, John Dig­nan and Bob Bartlett won by 12 shots.

Di­vi­sion four played Tongala away and re­turned home with an eight-shot win. This match had three close games, with the Echuca side win­ning two rinks and a tie in the other game.

Di­vi­sion five was played at home but were un­able to score a win against the vis­it­ing side from De­niliquin RSL.

In Fri­day’s round of mid­week pen­nant, the di­vi­sion one side played Moama at home. This match was close at times, but the vis­it­ing side fin­ished strongly to score the over­all win.

The di­vi­sion two side played Rich River at home, and had three rink wins, to fin­ish the day with a vic­tory by 17 shots.

Di­vi­sion three also played Moama at home, but found the vis­it­ing side too strong, even­tu­ally los­ing on both rinks.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Le­ica Roney, Michelle Cun­ning­ton and Pat Schram who were mem­bers of the win­ning Cam­paspe Val­ley side in the Golden Rivers Chal­lenge at Moama on Sun­day.

Pat Schram and Ker­ryn Evans will com­pete in the fi­nal of the CVBD State Pairs at Echuca on Mon­day. This fi­nal will com­mence at 9.30am, and their op­po­nents will be the Moama com­bi­na­tion of Mary Ann Spizer and Mia Young.

Mem­bers and visi­tors are re­minded that en­tries are be­ing taken for three tour­na­ments com­ing up at City of Echuca.

The Ken­naugh Triples will be held on Mon­day, Novem­ber 12, com­menc­ing at 5pm. The ladies’ Christ­mas fours is be­ing played on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 12 com­menc­ing at 10am.

The men’s Christ­mas fours will be held on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 20 start­ing at 9.30am. En­tries can be made by con­tact­ing John Brown or Rhonda Gal­lagher, or en­try sheets are on the club’s no­tice board.

Bowls re­sults from the Oc­to­ber 22 mixed triples saw win­ners in Stan Glasser, Gayle Kerr and Gary Trot­ter. Run­ners-up were Mike Candy, John Simpson and Ray McDon­nell.

The men’s pairs win­ners from Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 25 were Paul Mar­ron and Ian Parkinson; run­ners-up were Kelvin Walsh and Mark Golds.
