V/Line says it’s on track for Echuca

The Riverine Herald - - GAME ON SUMMER -

V/LINE is touting the punctuality of Echuca and Swan Hill trains as it exceeded the 92 per cent punctuality target for a second consecutive month.

This means the service was running on time a combined 92.9 per cent of the time in September.

The Echuca line recorded 95.1 per cent punctuality for September and a 100 per cent reliability with no unplanned cancellations.

Swan Hill trains ran on time 91.4 per cent of the time. The line achieved 99.2 per cent reliability, exceeding the 96 per cent target for services delivered, with just one service cancelled for the month.

V/Line chief executive James Pinder said the Echuca and Swan Hill performance results were positive.

“Some of the changes we made in the August timetable are having great flow on effects to the corridor, delivering more reliable and punctual trains for our passengers,” he said.

Most delays to Echuca and Swan Hill services last month were due to trespassing incidents that meant trains had to be held until given the all clear, vandalism and a track fault at Taradale.

“We continue to remind people to avoid taking risks in the rail reserve, as it not only delays services but is extremely dangerous,” Mr Pinder said.

“If anyone witnesses this sort of risky behaviour, we encourage them to report it immediately.”

Across the network, 97.5 per cent of services were delivered for the month, also exceeding the reliability target and improving on the previous month.
