The Riverine Herald - - GAME ON SUMMER - By Andrew Johnston

MOAMA has continued its dominance at the top of the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division in round five.

Once again it was wins in division one for both the midweek and weekend teams, with the weekend team remaining one point ahead of Tongala for top spot.

In the midweek game, their dominance continues to grow with Moama nine points ahead of Echuca.

In a dominant showing, Moama routed the team from Rich River, claiming all three rinks and amassing a stunning 56-shot victory.

With wins for Echuca and Deniliquin also taking place, the top three remain within striking distance of each other.

Moama retains top spot, but with a 4-1 record that Echuca and Deniliquin also hold.

Deniliquin had a 29-shot victory against Rochester, while Echuca held on with the slightest of margins to defeat Mathoura by the one shot.

But we will have to wait a bit longer to see a showdown between any of these sides, with all three on the road in round six action.

While Moama’s weekend pennant team also had a victory, it didn’t quite have the same margin.

Though it was by no means a tight victory that resulted.

Moama would have a 20-shot advantage on Deni RSL, claiming all three rinks to earn 16 points.

Second-placed Tongala also found themselves with another win, claiming a 31-shot victory over Rochester.

And the result sets up the early match of the season on Saturday, with Moama to face off with Tongala in pennant action.

But it isn’t just division one that the Moama midweek team is being a dominant force in.

All sides in the three divisions of midweek bowls are currently on top of their respective ladders and don’t look like slowing down.

Two shot wins in both divisions on Friday saw Moama extend their leads to 14 points in division two and two points in division three.

With the quality hanging on in all divisions, its looking like another strong year for Moama.
